Bittersweet Monthly
THE CLIENT
House of Rebelo and Bittersweet Creative have a long-standing partnership. As part of an overarching rebrand, the firm sought a design overhaul for their storytelling site—Bittersweet Monthly. As a publication that highlights stories of real world hope, change, and solutions, it was important that we created a highly functional and versatile site that would instill the reader with a sense of calm. Working with the intention of scalability for the site developer, we defined global site styles in the Homepage design, paired with a streamlined set of content blocks and a web style guide.
WHAT WE DID
1) Homepage & Global Elements Design
2) Content Blocks Design
3) Developer Asset Package & Web Style Guide
THE PROCESS
Homepage & Global Elements Design
First things first—the Homepage design. We began with wireframes to map out Homepage content and ensure users would easily be guided to important site pages. Referencing Bittersweet’s new brand, we designed the site to be elegant and calming—the opposite of your typical news site. At this stage, we also determined the design of global site elements including the navigation, footer, and mobile menu.

Content Block Design
Next, The UN Foundation sought a social media refresh—bringing their platforms in line with their new brand exploration. We created a suite of templates for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for a variety of content types, based on user data that signaled which previous posts had most effectively reached the client’s audience.

Developer Asset Package & Web Style Guide
Once the design phase is approved, a website moves into development. Because we always want to maintain the integrity of the site design (and make our developer’s life easier), we provided a full asset package and web style guide alongside design files. An organized package of design files, optimized photography assets, and vector SVGs ensure a smooth transition from design to development and a spectacular end product.
